Applications are still being taken for floats for the 2014 Cheyenne Christmas Parade, according to Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen.

Steenbergen says he expects somewhere between 100-150 floats this year, adding applications to enter floats in the parade are still being taken. He says volunteers are needed for the Wednesday before the parade to put up signs. Volunteers are also needed to help with the parade itself on November 29, both before and during the parade.

Steenbergen says volunteers are also needed to help clean up after the parade on November 30. People can volunteer by calling the chamber at 638-3388.

This year's parade is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on November 29th and will follow the city's usual parade route. the Cheyenne Christmas Parade is a long-time local tradition, held every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Many  residents consider the parade to be the unofficial start of the Christmas season in Cheyenne.
