The future of Colorado's most iconic restaurant is up in the air, but the public effort to save Denver's Casa Bonita is in full swing.

For months now, the word from Casa Bonita has been they are planning to reopen. However, recently, the famous Mexican restaurants filed for bankruptcy which seemed to cloud its future even more. However, even after filing the restaurant said it still planned to reopen.

Saving Casa Bonita

Big-time Casa Bonita fan Andrew Norwick has been to the restaurant more than 300 times and doesn't want it to close. Andrew and a group of area residents have created a campaign of awareness and fundraising to help ensure Casa Bonita doesn't close. They even have a website SaveCasaBonita.org.

A GoFundMe account was started with a goal of raising $100,000. So far, the effort has raised nearly $60,000. Exactly what would be done with the money once it is raised is not clear. However, it's been said that donations would be refunded if they don't reach their goal.

Making Memories of A Lifetime

Personally, I am hoping Casa Bonita stays open for years to come. I don't go there often, but have enjoyed it over the years from time and  I have some great memories of that place.

One memory takes me back to my senior year of high school and we took a trip to Denver for a Forensics meet. Following the competition, our group went to Casa Bonita for dinner. When we were finished eating, everyone took off exploring all of the nooks and crannies and "caves" in the restaurant. I had the pleasure of a hand-holding excursion through the dark restaurant with a girl I had a crush on. That was pretty much as far as I ever got in high school - but it's one of my special memories of Casa Bonita

Take a Virtual Tour

For those that have never experienced Casa Bonita, I would like to share some photos of what you'll find inside this iconic Colorado restaurant and hopefully one day you will have the opportunity to experience it for yourself.

Virtual Tour of Casa Bonita

Casa Bonita is an iconic restaurant in Denver and is probably the most famous restaurant in Colorado. The atmosphere is what makes Casa Bonita such a great experience with its maze of dining areas and special features. While it's true, most people don't go there for the food - they go there for the fun, the memories, and the experience. If you are one of the unfortunate ones who have never experienced Casa Bonita in person, I invite you to take a mini virtual tour of this famous Colorado restaurant.
