It turns out the time you spend on Facebook may actually be good for you.

The Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Association of Wyoming says new research seems to show socializing with your friends--and even being active in social media--may help prevent Alzheimer's disease.

Janet Lewis says researchers have known for quite some time that living a generally healthy life, including a heart-healthy diet and plenty of exercise, seems to help prevent Alzheimer's disease, but she says new research seems to show that socializing also helps.

Lewis says "They aren't really sure why this works'', but adds there does seem to be a lower incidence of the disease among people who are socially active as opposed to those who are not.

She says the social activity can include anything from attending church services to having coffee with friends to being active in social media.
