UPDATE: The Associated Press is reporting the closure of all schools in Kimball County, Nebraska today as authorities continue to search for a suspect or suspects who are believed to be armed. According to the Kimball County Sheriff's Department Facebook page, the suspects were being chased by the Nebraska Highway Patrol and the Cheyenne County, Nebraska Sheriff's Department when they fled on foot near the Cheyenne County/Kimball County line at around 1:30 a.m.

UPDATE: Laramie County School District #2 has issued a recorded statement saying officials believe the subject of a manhunt in Kimball County, Nebraska does not pose any kind of safety threat to schools in Laramie County, and that the local schools will remain open. The recording also said Kimball County schools are closed. Phone calls to the Kimball County School District attempting to verify the closure of schools in that district went unanswered.

The following statement was posted on the Kimball County Sheriff's Department facebook page this morning:

"UPDATE: 0655 Caution armed with 40 caliber handgun now in possession of a stolen vehicle. Turquoise 1997 GMC Sierra Pickup Nebraska Plate 39-97R. The Vehicle was taken from area of pursuit where additional vehicle was abandoned. If you see this vehicle or anyone who appears suspicious contact law enforcement immediately!!!"
