A Colorado bear hunter was attacked after his hunting partner shot a 125 pound bear just north of Pagosa Springs.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, a man and woman were bear hunting near a pond when the woman, who owned the hunting license, shot a black bear. The wounded bear took off and the hunters stayed put for about an hour before going after the wounded animal, following the blood trail.

As they made their way down the trail, the male hunter stepped over a log without noticing the dying bear laying on the other side. The bear latched onto his hand, sinking his teeth into the man. As the hunter pulled away, the bear latched onto his leg.

The female hunter quickly shot the bear, killing it and freeing the man from the bear's mouth.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said the hunters did everything right by immediately seeking medical attention and notifying them of the incident.
