Former finance executive and long-time Republican Party activist Ann Lucas has announced that she is running for the House District 43 seat currently held by Republican Dan Zwonitzer.

In a release announcing her campaign, Lucas said “Wyoming politicians, even ones who claim to be Republican, are just not holding the line for conservative values,”  She added “The status quo is not good enough. Taxes and government spending are going up and those ‘Republican’ politicians, including Dan Zwonitzer, are rolling out the red carpet for woke and progressive ideology that has made its way into our schools, our energy industry, and our workplaces.”

''I’m running to bring Wyoming back to true conservative values. I’m proven, prepared, and ready to take on the political establishment and return to the solid, commonsense, conservative values that Wyoming deserves,” Lucas continued.

According to the release, Lucas grew up in a Democratic family in Chicago, and 'found her conservative footing quickly, realizing how important it is to fight for every freedom.''

Lucas retired as Executive Vice President of a local credit union after 40 years in the business. She has since spent her time educating the community on how to reduce their debt through community seminars and her radio show. She plans to use her expertise to crack down on the budget in the legislature, according to the release.

She and her husband Patrick,  a retired Air Force officer, are Laramie County Republican Party Central Committee members.

Zwonitzer has represented House District 43 since 2005. He has not announced whether he will run for re-election this year.
