At the end of his rodeo career, country music star Chris LeDoux and his family settled on a ranch near Kaycee, Wyoming, north of Casper. It became his hometown until his death in 2005.

In 2002, flooding destroyed much of Kaycee, including the Rusty Spur tack shop. The LeDoux family bought that land, and after Chris' death, they donated the land for the creation of Chris LeDoux Memorial Park.

The centerpiece of the park includes a 3500-pound statue titled ‘Good Ride Cowboy,’ sculpted by Buffalo, Wyoming Artist, and family friend, D. Michael Thomas. It shows LeDoux on his horse Stormy Weather, that he rode when he won the National Finals bareback riding championship on in 1976.
