80 MPH Winds, Heavy Mountain Snow In SE Wyoming Weekend Forecast
Southeast Wyoming is facing what forecasters are calling a ''prolonged wind event" this weekend, with gusts as high as 80 miles per hour possible.
Snowfall of up to 15 inches is also possible at higher elevations in the area.
That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service. The agency issued a weather statement early Friday morning that included the following:
Key Messages ➔ High Wind Warnings in effect for the southeast Wyoming wind prones 11 PM Friday through 5 PM Monday.
◆ Wind gusts up to 80 MPH possible. ➔ High Wind Watches also in effect for wind prone adjacent areas from 3 AM Saturday through 8 PM Saturday.
◆ Wind gusts up to 65 MPH possible. ➔ Winter Storm Warning in effect for the Sierra Madre Range today. ➔ Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the Snowy Range today.
➔ Widespread high wind event expected for southeast Wyoming during the day Saturday.
➔ Wind prone areas including Arlington, Bordeaux and the Interstate 80 summit are expected to see the strongest winds.
➔ Wind prone areas can expect high winds Friday night through the weekend, and into the day Monday.
➔ Wind prone adjacent areas like Cheyenne, Wheatland, Laramie and Rawlins may also see high winds on Saturday.
➔ Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.
