As many already know, rock lost a big feather in their cap with the passing of 'Eagles' pioneer, Glenn Frey. There may be some things that you were not aware about the group.

Here are 5 facts about the band that brought you 'One of these Nights' and 'Hotel California' that you may not have known.

  1. Their Beginnings - They began their career in 1971, backing up Linda Ronstadt. Glenn Frey and Don Henley had a conversation about wanting their own band, and eventually gave notice to Linda to do so.
  2. Law Suit - Don Felder, Glenn Frey and Don Henley were the 3 original owners of the band and was incorporated as 'Eagles, Ltd.' Felder was fired from the board in 2001 for allegedly "asking too many questions."
  3. Television - Glenn Frey was in a program called, "South of Sunset." The show was eventually cancelled. However, Frey also starred as a guest in "Miami Vice" as a pilot and was credited with singing 'Smuggler's Blues' and 'You Belong to the City' in one of the episodes.
  4. Close To The Vest - The group has never allowed their music to be used for any kind of commercial use, nor have they done any kind of an endorsement deal.
  5. Sue Happy? - The group sued the American Eagle Foundation which is a charitable group with the intent of helping to save birds. The reason for the lawsuit was because the foundation used the domain name of 'eagle.org' with the phone number 1-800-2EAGLES. The lawsuit was thrown out because members of the band had a hard time showing up for court.
