Day one of the Class 4A Girls Swimming and Diving State Championships is complete.

Laramie leads seven events, including all three relays. Individually, senior Katie McPherson had the top time in the 50 freestyle with an All-American consideration time of 23.48 seconds. She followed with the fastest time in the 100 freestyle of 53.86 seconds, where she is the defending champion. Junior Anna Roesler in the 200 individual medley and sophomore Ashlyn Mathes in the 500 freestyle also placed first in the preliminary round.

Campbell County junior star Berkeley Christensen had the fast prelim time in the 200 freestyle (1:57.76) and the 100 butterfly (56.90).

Other event leaders after the prelims include two-time 4A champion Gabriella Haigler in diving. She scored 301.70 points in the prelims and semifinals. She leads the diving by over 15 points.

Cheyenne Central's Kira Brownell had the top time in the 100 backstroke of 59.78 seconds.

In the 100 breaststroke, Campbell County's Skye Rehard has the fastest time with 1:08.12 in the prelims.

The state championships continue on Friday with all events finals beginning at 9 a.m.
