2 Killed in Mother’s Day Crash Near Torrington
Two men are dead following a head-on collision near Torrington early Sunday afternoon.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a pickup towing a trailer was headed south on U.S. Highway 85 near milepost 85 when it swerved into the northbound lane and hit an oncoming car.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was taken to Community Hospital in Torrington where he died from his injuries.
The Patrol says 67-year-old Neil Newman, of Wyoming, and 22-year-old Austin Walton, of Tennessee, were the men driving, but their report did not indicate who was driving which vehicle.
Excessive speed, driver inattention and possible impairment are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
