There is sad news coming out of Yellowstone National Park, as it has been reported that "Scarface," the popular grizzly bear, has been shot and killed by a hunter.

It was reported by the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, that the grizzly was put to rest outside of the park's boundary, somewhere near Gardiner, Mont.

It's obvious to many how the grizzly got his nickname "Scarface." Because of the prolific scarring on the bears face due to fighting other males during mating season, people in and around the park scored the bear that name.

Photographers and park goers alike, were saddened, shocked and, in some cases, angry as the bear was shot illegally. These bears are federally protected in the lower 48 states, under the Endangered Species Act.

The suspect is still at large, but the investigation is still ongoing.
