Wyoming Cowboy junior guard Riley Grabau earned the Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for his performance in two Cowboys victories last week.

Grabau wins the weekly accolade for the first time in his career.

He played 39 minutes in both wins over then 5th-ranked San Diego State and San Jose State. He also led the Pokes in scoring in both games.

Grabau averaged 17.5 points and six rebounds per game last week. He shot 50 percent (10-20) from the field, 43.8 percent (7-16) from beyond the arc and was 8-10 (80%) at the free throw line. He also registered an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.0, with six assists and only three turnovers in the two-game stretch.

He scored 17 points, dished out four assists and grabbed three rebounds in Wyoming’s upset of the Aztecs last Tuesday.

He followed with 18 points and a career-high nine rebounds in the Cowboys’ 46-38 victory at San Jose State on Saturday.

Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt said, “I’m pleased to see [he won Men's Basketball Player of the Week]. I think it’s well deserved. We had a solid week last week; winning a couple games and Riley’s (Grabau) meant a great deal, as have so many of our players to this team and this program.”

Grabau is the second UW player to earn the honor. Larry Nance, Jr. received the distinction twice earlier this season. He won it once in December and once in January.
