Wyoming’s New Attorney General Sworn In

Wyoming's new Attorney General Peter Michael was officially sworn in Monday by Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kite. Michael was appointed by Governor Matt Mead last month to replace Greg Phillips who was appointed to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Michael, who had served as Chief Deputy under Phillips, said one of his goals is to make sure the attorneys in the office are as preparted as they can be. Michael added that the Attorney General's office provides a great challenge because of the diversity of topics the office addresses.

Michael is a native of Pennsylvania and has been a Wyoming resident since 1978. Michael received his bachelor's degree from Yale University, then graduated from the UW Law School in 1985. He served as a clerk for the Wyoming Supreme Court, then spent 20 years in private practice before former Attorney General Patrick Crank recruited him for the state office seven years ago to specialize in water law.
