A bill introduced in the Wyoming State Senate would ban selling guns to anyone who is on an FBI terrorist watch list.

Senate File 75 would specifically ban firearm sales to those on the federal "no fly" list and other FBI watch lists for suspicion of possible terrorist activity or associations.

The bill is similar to one that has been proposed by Democrats in the U.S. Senate but has never been passed.

Opponents of the measure say they are concerned because many people on the list have never been convicted of any crime in court. They say it's unconstitutional to take away an American citizen's Second Amendment rights without due process of law.

Supporters argue that it is important to keep potential terrorists from getting guns, and say generally most people on the federal watch list are there for a reason.

The bill is sponsored in the Wyoming Legislature by Senator James Anderson (R-SD 26) and Rep. Tom Walters (R-HD 38).
