Wyoming Regulators Approve Black Hills Energy Gas Rate Increase

The Wyoming Public Service Commission has signed off on a natural gas rate increase for Black Hills Energy customers in the Cowboy State.

Utility spokeswoman Laurie Farkas says the increase will ''recover over $140 million of necessary improvements in its more than 6,400-mile natural gas system in Wyoming to support safe, reliable natural gas service for customers.''

How Much Of An Increase Should People Expect In Their Monthly Bills?

Farkas says that residential customers with average usage can expect to see an increase of about $7.26 on their monthly gas bills. Small general customers with average usage can expect to see an increase of around $1.23 per month.

According to the news release “Customers rely on critical natural gas service from Black Hills Energy all day, every day,” said Dustin McKen, general manager of Black Hills Energy in Wyoming. “As an energy company that serves more than 133,000 natural gas customers across the state, it’s our responsibility to make thoughtful investments in the safety and resiliency of our system to meet residential and business demand.”

The rate increase will take effect on February 1.
