A sudden wind gust tore the roof off of a home in Reliance Wednesday afternoon, according to a spokesman for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.

Dick Blust says no one was home when the wind struck around 4:30 p.m., and there were no injuries. Blust says investigators found the wind was not a tornado, but may have been a dry microburst.

That's a localized phenomenon often caused by high altitude thunderstorms that result in little or no rainfall on the ground.
