Laramie County residents will never vote the same way again.

As part of a pilot program, Cheyenne voters were able to vote at any of nine different voting centers during Tuesday's special election.

"It worked really well and voters really seemed to like it," said Laramie County Clerk Debbye Lathrop. "This will be the future way that Laramie County votes."

In the past, people had to vote in their precinct. Now, voters have the flexibility to go to any polling location.

"We will have vote centers where any person from anywhere in the county can go in and vote," said Lathrop. "So if it's handy for them to vote close to work, great. If there's someplace that's on their way to lunch, they can pop in and vote."

Lathrop hopes the change will increase voter turnout in the future.
