Sage Grouse

Twenty-eight year old Brian Sears of Cheyenne is facing charges of second degree homicide and attempted second degree homicide in connection with last Thursday's shooting that claimed the life off 22 year old Connor Tarr of Cheyenne.  Sage grouse had favorable weather this summer but remain challenged by energy development in Wyoming. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced a $4 Million grant program to help 20 communities in developing new wood to energy opportunities. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and representatives of 10 Western states met in Cheyenne today to talk about sage grouse. Salazar says it is important that the Western States develop a comprehensive strategy to protect the bird. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has been looking to a strategy developed by the state of Wyoming as a successful way to protect sage grouse.

Governor Matt Mead wants state lawmakers to put up $10 million dollars for Sage Grouse conservation.
