The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority has written a letter to city officials urging the location of a new Public Safety Building in downtown Cheyenne.

The Cheyenne City Council in a split vote Monday night rejected a proposal to purchase the former Dineen Car Dealership at 18th Street and Pioneer Avenue for a new Public Safety Building to house the Cheyenne Police Department and Fire and Rescue Administration and emergency responders

Cheyenne Police officials say their current building on Capitol Avenue is plagued by leaking roofs, a crumbling basic structure, serious electrical issues, undrinkable water and a long list of other issues to the point where it is costing taxpayers millions of dollars and posing a threat to public safety.
