Fire District 2 Responds to Oil Well Fire

At 8:55 AM Monday, Laramie County Fire District #2 was called to a reported oil well fire near the intersection of US 85 and County Road 222. The oil well was located ½ mile south of milepost 29 on US85 and 1 ½ miles north of County Road 222.

Official Says Fire Season Underway Early

Laramie County Fire District #2 spokesman Lew Simpson says it appears that the local fire season is underway early, and could be worse than last year.

Simpson says a grass fire Sunday night that torched about 20 acres near the Cheyenne Hills Church is not a good sign, adding the local fire season usually doesn't get underway until May or June

Grass Fire Torches 20 Acres

Laramie County Fire District #2 was called out to battle a grass fire at 7505 US Highway 30 around 9pm Sunday night, according to district spokesman Lew Simpson.

He says the original report was that the fire was burning in a 200 yard area with no buildings threatened

Laramie County Fire District #2 has sent a front line fire engine, a support vehicle and a five member crew to help fight the Fern Lake Fire near Estes Park, Colorado.

Lightning Strike Suspected Cause of House Fire

Laramie County Fire District 2 responded to a fire at 1515 Crestview Drive at approximately 1:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012. They believe the fire was caused by a lightning strike.

According to a news release upon arrival , firefighters found flames coming from the roof in the southeast corner of the structure. No one was home.
