CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Retired U.S. District Judge Clarence A. Brimmer, of Cheyenne, has died at the age of 92.

Brimmer's daughter, Liz Brimmer, says her father died Thursday at a hospital in Boulder, Colorado, surrounded by his family.

President Gerald Ford nominated Brimmer to the federal bench in 1975. Brimmer assumed senior status in late 2006 but continued to hear cases until the spring of 2012.

Brimmer's son Phil Brimmer is also a U.S. District Court judge, serving in Colorado.

Brimmer served as Wyoming Attorney General in the early 1970s. His major cases in recent years have included disputes over snowmobiles in Yellowstone National Park and the federal ban on new road construction on national forests.

Funeral services will be held next Tuesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cheyenne.
