Meet KGAB Mornings Host – Gary Freeman
Welcome to KGAB 650AM with Gary Freeman!
Gary grew up in the ’70s and ’80s, in Long Beach and then Cerritos, California, with a desire to broadcast behind a microphone from a very early age.
Having lived in Wyoming for over 10 years, Gary loves the wide open spaces, the people and calls the Cowboy State his home.
He got his start behind a microphone back in the ’80s, when he was a DJ at a local, popular roller skating rink in Southern California. In 1988, Gary joined the United States Army infantry and proudly served in Germany, when the Berlin Wall came down, during the Cold War and during Dessert Storm.
Upon leaving the U.S. Army, Gary was educated in a private college in Graham, Washington and graduated in 1995.
This is Gary’s second time in the KGAB studio–in 2010, he hosted “Across America” on Saturday afternoons. From there, Gary hosted a Saturday morning program on KRAE 1480AM called, “The Backyard Network,” with Batman Ken and The Birdhouse Guy.
Gary is now the “Morning Mayor” on the KGAB morning show, which airs Monday through Friday, 6 – 10 a.m. Gary focuses on community affairs, as well as topics that range from sports and politics to trending technologies and entertainment. He is also passionate about people and strengthening relationships with them.
A mix of nostalgia and entertainment, Gary enjoys the fine art of ventriloquism, collecting vintage radios and record players, listening to old-time radio programs, and spending time with his wife, Catherine, and daughter, Julia. He is very active at his local church.
