A 34-year-old man was recently sentenced to 51 years in prison for the stabbing death of his mother in Eaton, Colorado.

That's according to a Weld County District Attorney's Office release.

The release says Gilbert Faudoa attacked his mother in her Eaton home in 2021, stabbing her 54 times. Faudoa fled the scene in his father's Chevy Impala but was caught when law enforcement saw him walking back toward the crime scene. Faudoa said he suffered from methamphetamine-induced psychoses at the time of the murder.

Faudoa was sentenced to 48 years in prison for second-degree murder and another three years for aggravated vehicle theft.

The sentences are to be served consecutively.

The release quotes Deputy District Attorney Travis Winter as saying at the sentencing hearing, “this is not merely a case about drug abuse or making an isolated ‘poor decision.’ This is a case of evil, pure and simple.”

10 of Wyoming's Most Dangerous Animals

Wyoming is home to some pretty epic creatures. The pronghorn is the second fastest land animal in the world, second only to the cheetah -- and it's worth noting that while the cheetah can spring faster, the pronghorn can sustain it's top speed much farther. And while we do have plenty of cute and cuddly creatures (llike the nothern saw-whet owl) there are plenty of things that'll kill ya. Might want to think twice about moving here.
