Cheyenne police are investigating an alleged assault with steel rebar in a city parking garage Monday night.

Rebar is a steel rod used to reinforce concrete structures.

Cheyenne Police say 43 year old Gilbert Vigil started an argument with the victim, who's identity has not been released. The victim later told police he had been drinking in the top floor of the parking garage in the 300 block of West 17th street.

The second man struck Vigil, who then allegedly retaliated by pulling an 8-10 inch long piece of rebar from his jacket, striking the man twice in the head. The victim fell to the ground, while Vigil allegedly continued to hit him. Police say he was then joined in the attack on the fallen man by 52 year old James Eagleroad and a third man, Angel Starchild, both of whom began kicking the man.

The victim suffered lacerations to his head and a possible broken arm. Police were unable to find the rebar allegedly used in the fight.

Vigil was charged with Aggravated Assault resulting in injury. Eagleroad faces charges of Fighting, Riotous Conduct and Public Intoxication.

Starchild received a citation, but was not arrested.
