The last section of the Snyder Avenue Reconstruction Project should re-open to traffic on Saturday, weather permitting.

The section runs from West 29th Street to West Pershing and includes resurfacing as well as replacement of the underground water, sewer and storm water systems, as well as sidewalk and landscaping work.

Some of the previous water system included lead pipe that dated back to at least 1919, according to city officials. Sam Berta, City of Cheyenne Project Engineer, says among other things the project should reduce flooding in the area. The outfall capacity for the storm water system has been increased from a 24 inch pipe to an eight foot by eight foot concrete outfall, which drains into Crow Creek near Missile Drive.

The  price tag for this phase of the project is $5.7 million, paid for through money from the fifth penny tax as well as BOPU funding.

The entire Snyder Avenue Reconstruction Project runs from West 23rd Street to West Pershing.
