Rick Keslar says he is running as a Republican for the open two year seat on the Laramie County Commission. Keslar is currently a Policy and Planning Analyst with the Wyoming Department of Transportation and has worked for the Wyoming State Highway Department and WYDOT for the past 37 years, experience  which he says gives him a strong background in management and customer service.

He's also been involved with Cheyenne Frontier Days for 33 years, and has been a board member of Visit Cheyenne since 2008.  He says his goals include promoting economic growth, in part by supporting new businesses in the county such as Microsoft and NCAR. Keslar says that while he likes the potential economic impact of the Niobrara Oil Play, he is concerned  about the possible impact of hydraulic fracturing on the local water supply. Keslar says wear and tear on county roads is another concern in regard to the oil play.

Keslar  says that while he thinks all of the items on the 2012 county sixth-penney sales tax ballot are worthwhile, it might be a good idea to differentiate between projects that are really necessary as opposed to those that may be nice to have, but aren't critical.
