The Wyoming Supreme Court has upheld a 75-year prison sentence for a Cheyenne man who shot his estranged wife in front of their 10-year-old daughter.

The Supreme Court on Thursday affirmed the conviction and sentence of Christopher Michael Town.

Town had pleaded guilty to the October 2013 killing of 29-year-old Crystal Town. District Judge Steven Sharpe of Cheyenne last summer sentenced Christopher Town to 75 years in prison.

The couple was in the process of getting a divorce when the shooting happened. Prosecutors say Christopher Town shot Crystal Town her several times in front of the couple's daughter.

Town had claimed in his appeal that it was improper for Sharpe to consider statements at sentencing from people who weren't related to the victim. The Supreme Court rejected that argument.
