Here Are Some Unbelievable True Facts That Totally Sound Made Up
We hear a lot of things that make us wonder whether or not what we've heard are actually true. Here are some stories that are unbelievably true. Today on the Top 5 at 7:45, I'll highlight actual facts that sound completely made up. It will probably surprise you what we've discovered.
- The "Bat" Bomb - During the second world war, the U.S. created a bomb carrying hundreds of bats. Each bat carried a small incendiary charge of which they would be released from the bomb and fly into buildings before detonating. P.E.T.A. would have a heyday with this one today.
- Kidney Transplants - Did you know that when you receive a kidney transplant, they don't replace the bad one with a good one? Actually, what they do is they place the good kidney in your pelvis and redirect the veins and arteries to the kidney.
- The Attack of the Deadly Molasses - It has been said that in Boston, back in the early 1900's, a wave of molasses rushed through the town at 35 mph. Decades later, locals still claimed that they could smell the stuff on hot days in Boston.
- Relative Connections - President Abraham Lincoln's son, Robert, almost fell of a train platform. His life was spared by Edwin Booth, who was the brother of John Wilkes who would later take the life of the president.
- Our American Flag - The flag that is flown over America today was designed by, then, 17 year old Robert G. Heft for a school project. Believe it or not, his teacher graded him with a B minus at the time.
