Today, it seems like there is much to know about tipping. When do we tip? Who do we tip? Where do we leave a tip? Here are some people that should probably get a tip, but aren't.  Experts are saying that there are certain occupations that we probably never think about giving a tip, but whom we probably should. So, today on the Top 5 at 7:45, I'll highlight my top services that I think warrant some kind of gratuity.

  1. Hotel/ Motel House Keeper - Whenever I stay in a hotel, I always try to leave a tip. Some say to leave anywhere from $1 to $2 dollars a day, depending on how many are staying in the hotel. Personally, I try to leave $3 to $5 after I stay a night.
  2. A Tour Guide - I would not have thought to leave a tip for these folks. However, if they do a really good job, keep it interesting and fun, then you could give them a good tip. If it's a 2 hour walking tour or boat tour, slap a $5 dollar bill. That will probably do it.
  3. DJ's  - If you're at a party, and you request a certain song that appeals to you, give the man behind the mic a tip for it. This goes for bands also. If there is a song that you simply can't stand hearing, like "Afternoon Delight", by the Starland Vocal Band, give the DJ a $20, and I'm sure you'll never hear that song all night.
  4. Hair Stylist - Fortunately, I have a great hair stylist, cosmetologist, or barber. However you want to describe her. She has always done a wonderful job on my hair and therefore, always gets a tip. I give her $3 most every time. I believe this helps her to know that I appreciate her care and work on my hair.
  5. Servers At Assisted Living Facilities - I never would have thought about this one. If you're visiting your parents or grandparents in an assisted living facility, and the house server takes care of you at the lunch table, give them a tip. Even though they work there, if they're providing a service it's nice to tip.

What are other services that you receive that you give a tip to? Tell us about it in the comments section below.
