There was a fatal wreck on Casper Mountain Sunday morning.

Update, Tuesday, August 4th: The Wyoming Highway Patrol has identified the driver as 21 year old Nikolas Clark of Casper.

Excessive speed is being investigated as the contributing factor in this crash.

Original Story: At roughly 7am Sunday, a 21-year-old male was driving down Casper Mountain Road in a small, 2-door hatchback when he entered the first switchback in front of the former Trailhead Lodge Restaurant.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says he was going too fast for the curve and went sideways, and then airborne, hitting two trees by the side of the road.

The driver was belted, but the impact was too great and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
