It took just over an hour for the University of Wyoming volleyball team to notch their second straight win at the UniWyo Sports Complex. The Cowgirls beat CSU-Pueblo 25-11, 25-14, 25-12.

“I think they came out ready to play,” said Head Coach Carrie Yerty after the match. “They didn’t take Pueblo for granted. They came out strong. We served very aggressive and Erin Kirby was a machine blocking wise. It was really nice to see whatever lineup we chose to go in to that match play strong and do a great job. I was really proud of them tonight.”

Kirby had 9 block assists and 1 solo block in Wyoming’s total of 19 blocks on the night. Offensively the Cowgirls were led by Jodi Purdy with 11 kills. UW had 10 different players record kills and hit .343 as a team while holding the ThunderWolves to a -.065 kill percent.

Wyoming (1-2, 13-5) will return to Mountain West Conference play on Friday when they travel to Colorado State University.

“Hopefully with back-to-back wins that gives us a little extra momentum going into a big match against CSU,” said Yerty. “It’s not hard for our team to get fired up to play CSU, but it’s a tough match on the road that we’ve got to compete at and hopefully come home with a win.”
