Joyce Crocker/Wyoming baseball

Three wins this weekend will get the Wyoming Cowboys club baseball program to a place they’ve never been. It would mean a trip to the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) Division I World Series.

The Cowboys will compete in the double-elimination Mid-America Region club baseball tournament in Topeka, Kansas. Their opening game is Saturday, May 10 at 8 a.m., Mountain Time, against the second seed University of Iowa Hawkeyes. Top seed Missouri will face fourth seed Colorado State in the other first round game Friday night.

The winner of the regional will advance to the NCBA DI World Series in Tampa, Florida later this month.

Wyoming Cowboys manager Skyler Joy says,

“We’re excited to represent Wyoming at the regional tournament and hope to continue our winning post-season tradition.”

Wyoming is in its first season competing at the Division I level. They moved up after qualifying for the NCBA DII World Series five times in the last six years.

They won the West Division of the Mid-America conference with a 12-6 league record this season to qualify for this regional tournament. Their conference includes club teams from CSU, CU and UNC. The Pokes are 14-14 on the season.

Joy will join David Settle and Jerrad Anderson on Sportsline Live tonight at 5:10 p.m. on KOWB.
