The Laramie County Commission will vote on proposes raises and compensation packages for county employees on July 8 at 6pm.

Republican Commissioner Amber Ash says there are some misconceptions about the proposal including it's cost to the county, which Ash says will be a little over $481,000. Ash says numerous local media reports have incorrectly pegged the cost at $1.2 million . She says the original cost estimate on the entire compensation package was about $1.2 million, but she says various changes and further calculations have reduced the cost of the compensation package to around $950, 000.

Ash says commissioners have heard a lot of comment both for and against the proposed raises. She says she personally feels that voting for the raises is the 'fiscally responsible"  when all factors are included, such as the cost of training new employees to replace those who leave.
