When the taxman comes and finds out that you didn't pay Uncle Sam his due, you may have to forfeit your passports. There is buzz in D.C. about this now.

There is some buzz about pending legislation from Congress that would allow the State Department to deny and revoke any passports to Americans because of tax evasion.

If the tax delinquency is over $50,000, you're situation may be marked as "seriously delinquent" which will result in increased payments.

Both sides of the Republican-led Congress, the House and the Senate, are in approval of the bill and is expected to be passed into law before this years end. The new law would take effect January 1, 2016.

The only exceptions to the law would include, but not necessarily limited to, debt repayment plans or those involved with collection appeals.
