Colorado Man Bound Over for Trial in Cheyenne Child Sex Abuse Case
A 48-year-old Greeley, Colorado man has been bound over to Laramie County District Court on charges of first and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
Charging documents allege Richard Childers engaged in sexual contact with a young girl and forced her to perform oral sex.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at a home in Cheyenne sometime between July 1, 2008 and Nov. 27, 2008, when Childers was between 38 and 39 years old and the girl was six.
The case was assigned to the Cheyenne Police Department in April 2016 after the girl's mother contacted local law enforcement about an entry in her daughter's journal alleging Childers sexually assaulted her when she was in first grade.
Childers remains free on bond. If convicted, he could face 25 to 70 years in prison.
