Cheyenne Summer Watering Schedule Takes Effect On Monday

The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities is reminding people about the new water schedule that takes effect on Monday, April 1.

Under the summer watering schedule, which runs until November 30, watering of lawns, trees, and gardens between 10 am and 6 p.m. is prohibited. Wasting water, including such things as watering during high winds or rainstorms or allowing water to run down the street is prohibited.

Watering up to three days per week outside of the prohibited hours is allowed.

If you are planting new seeds or sod, you will need a watering permit and amended soils.

The BOPU says Changes In The Schedule Are Possible

According to the release, ''The City’s watering schedule is in place to promote efficient water use while preparing residents for potential future water shortages due to a Colorado River curtailment.  This watering schedule also aligns with the City’s long-term goal to achieve a low-water landscape in Cheyenne.  The BOPU will continue to evaluate water resources and make appropriate adjustments as needed.''
