When young students in our local school districts hear the call and step up to a challenge, it can be a good thing. See what these school girls are doing. The name is "Power Over Pain" and this is a project that 6th graders are promoting at Saddle Ridge in Cheyenne.

Kylie and Rhianne were challenged by their teachers to do a paper and research what's going on with teen activism. Instead of just doing a report about a worthy cause, they decided to roll up their sleeves and get to work on a project of their own.

We all have been affected, in one way or another, by cancer. Both girls have lost those they love to cancer, but now they want to honor those victims and fight back.

This Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Lion's Park at the gazebo by the Cheyenne Aquatic Center, join them for their 1st annual "Go Your Distance Walk/Run". The run is at 8:30 a.m. and early registration starts at 7:30 a.m.

The cost is $10 a person and another $10 will get you a T-shirt. Registration can be dropped off at Cheyenne Stitch located at 2420 East Seventh Street on the corner of Nation Way and Crook Ave.

ALL proceeds from this event, will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
