A walk to raise money to fight multiple sclerosis is slated for May 20 in Cheyenne at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza.

The Cheyenne Walk MS event is being held in conjunction with Walk MS fundraisers all across the country that raise money for MS research as well as services to support multiple sclerosis victims.

The Cheyenne MS event alone is expected to raise around $110,000, according to the National MS Society

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable disease that disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and the body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis.

It usually is diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50 and targets women at least two to three times more often than men. The Cheyenne Walk MS is being sponsored by Toyota, and national sponsors include Genentech, Novartis, and Sanofi Genzyme.

People can register to walk or volunteer for MS Walk Cheyenne by calling 855-372-1331 or by emailing fundraisingsupport@nmss.org. They can also go to a website to register
