The Ed Herschler Detachment of the Marine Corps League veterans group is holding a gun show this weekend.

That's according to Dave Kliegel, the Chaplain and Veteran Assistance Coordinator for the local detachment. The gun show is slated to run until 5 p.m. today [June 23] at Forum 619 at 619 South Greeley Highway.

It will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The event is to raise money for the group's Veteran's Assistance Programs

The group will be raffling off a new Mossberg Patriot Bolt Action .308 Winchester chambered-in rifle with a scope. Proceeds from that raffle will go to support veteran assistance programs which help vets from all branches of the military.

Other firearms will be raffled off as well, including a 30-30 rifle and a .410 gauge shotgun by Harrington and Richardson with those proceeds going to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.

Meet the Four-Legged Heroes of the Cheyenne Police Department

They may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but make no bones about it, police dogs play a vital role in the fight against crime.

In many situations, they're the first ones to put their lives on the line to protect their human partners, proving that not all heroes wear capes, some wear fur coats.
