A 27-year-old Cheyenne man accused of abusing his 5-year-old daughter has been bound over to Laramie County District Court.

Laramie County Sheriff's Detective Robert Mosbacher says deputies were called to Promise Patch Kids on Jan. 15 after Thomas Langhorne's daughter "showed up with new bruises." Mosbacher says the daycare started documenting the girl's injuries about a week or two prior.

The child was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where staff noticed bruising on her buttocks and multiple bruises and abrasions on her face. She was subsequently taken into DFS custody.

Mosbacher says the girl's stepmother initially denied knowing about the bruises, but later admitted that she noticed Langhorne "taking the spanking too far." She also said that Langhorne "back-handed the girl after she talked back to him."

Langhorne was being held on a $5,000 cash bond, but Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Denise Nau on Tuesday reduced it to $3,000 cash/surety.

If convicted of child abuse, Langhorne could face up to 10 years in prison.
