Cheyenne Fire & Rescue sent three vehicles and 15 firefighters to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident about 18 miles west of Laramie on Interstate 80 Monday morning.

The accident involving 20 to 40 vehicles altogether occurred around 8 a.m. Cheyenne firefighters left for the scene at 9:42 a.m. at the request of the City of Laramie Fire Department.

Cheyenne Fire & Rescue dispatched its Regional Emergency Response Team #7, a fire engine from the fire training facility, and a command vehicle to the scene. The response team handles hazardous materials situations.

Cheyenne’s response team checked all vehicles at the scene and determined there were no hazardous chemical leaks. Cheyenne firefighters were on scene until about 4:30 p.m.
