BOPU Releases FY 2013 Financial Report
The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) released a financial report describing the business activities of Cheyenne’s Water and Sewer Enterprise Funds between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.
The report is called the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2013. Each year, the BOPU produces the financial report to describe how the BOPU invests revenue from water and sewer bills back into Cheyenne’s water and sewer systems.
According to the report, water fund expenditures for the fiscal year totaled $19.6 million. Of that amount, $10.0 million was spent on operating and maintaining the water system, $4.3 million on construction projects, $4.7 million on debt service and $0.6 million on capital purchases.
Sewer fund expenditures for the fiscal year totaled $9.9 million. Of that amount, $5.7 million was spent on operating and maintaining the sewer system, $0.9 million on construction projects, $2.9 million on debt service and $0.4 million on capital purchases.
The BOPU released the report after receiving a clean audit by an independent auditor. The auditor concluded that the report’s financial statements represent fairly the financial position of the BOPU and conform with generally accepted accounting principles.
