Authorities believe they may have found the body of a Pierce, Colorado woman who went missing last September.

Laramie County Sheriff's Department Captain Linda Gesell says the body of a white female was found last Wednesday between Horse Creek and Laramie.

"A couple of months ago the Weld County Sheriff's Office was investigating the homicide of a young female," said Gesell. "One of the people that they had in custody lead them to where they dumped the body up here in Wyoming."

Corporal Matt Turner with the Weld County Sheriff's Office says the body is believed to be that of 34-year-old Tera Lewandowski.

“We're still waiting on a forensic identification right now, but we are hoping that is going to turn up positive as her,” said Turner.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office has been actively investigating Lewandowski's disappearance since early October.

“Our detectives have done a great job in working on this incident because they don't have a lot to go on,” said Turner.  “We have six individuals in custody at the Weld County Jail in relation to possibly her murder.”

Lewandowski may have been the victim of a biker gang assault for allegedly stealing prescription drugs.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” said Turner.  “Even if we have a positive identification, we still have a lot more to do on this case.”
