SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) — The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers to help count bald eagles in the Powder River Basin.

The annual midwinter bald eagle survey will take place Jan. 11.

Volunteers will count eagles while driving standard routes. BLM officials ask volunteers to pre-register for survey routes by Jan. 3.

Public meetings to discuss methodology and eagle identification, and to distribute survey materials, will take place Jan. 7 at the BLM Buffalo Field Office, Jan. 8 at the Sheridan County Library in Sheridan and Jan. 9 at the Campbell County Library in Gillette.

The meetings will be held from 7-8 p.m.
