Black Dog Animal Rescue is waiving all adoption fees for "less-adoptable" pets this month.

In recognition of PetFinder.com’s "Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet" campaign, BDAR has partnered with the Cheyenne Dog Food Company, Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic, PetCo and Red Ruff Inn to offer fee-waived adoptions and gift packages to anyone who adopts a qualifying dog or cat during the month of September.

In addition, BDAR is entering adoptive families into a drawing for tickets to its annual fundraising event, Bark & Wine.

"Less-adoptable is simply a playful description in this case of animals who are unlikely to meet adoption criteria for most households," said Britney Wallesch, BDAR Executive Director. "Our goal in September is to find wonderful, forever homes for some of the dogs who have been in our care for the longest amount of time, or to encourage people to widen their search for a new pet to include animals they might not normally consider. All of the dogs included in this promotion are every bit as loving and wonderful as all of our adoptable animals."

Qualifying animals include pit bulls, special needs dogs, senior dogs, Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes, dogs who have been in foster care for an extended period of time and all available cats.

"In our hearts, we consider all of these animals to be just as valuable and worthy of adoptive homes as any other," said Wallesch. "It is our hope that the promotion will encourage people to give these animals a second look."
