The annual "Fill the Boot" campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is this weekend in Cheyenne. 

Firefighters from Cheyenne Fire and Rescue will be at numerous locations around the community this weekend. ding out stickers to those who donate. The campaign is part of the national partnership between the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) and MDA that started 60 years ago.

This year, local IAFF president Jonathan Bertsch said he hopes the spotlight on the ALS challenge will help the MDA cause, which includes ALS research, support, and awareness.

Bertsch said they will extend their fundraising campaign through September 6th when they host the 4th Annual Freedom 5-K. He said at that event they will have 200 buckets available "in hopes of being the largest bucket challenge to date."  Bertsch said  anyone who wants to take the ALS Challenge. He said for every registered event participant, they will donate $5.00 to MDA on top of their weekend collection.
