Animal Cruelty Charges Filed

51 counts of animal cruelty charges were filed against Marci Biesheuvel Thursday. On Tuesday, 47 dogs and 4 cats were taken from her home near Carpenter. This is the second time in just over a year that animals were seized from Ms. Biesheuvel's property, where she operates "lit'l bit of love animal rescue and sanctuary".  The first offense of animal cruelty comes with a potential penalty of 6 months in jail and a $750 fine.  Subsequent offenses carry a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.  Baylie Evans, spokeswoman for the Cheyenne Animal Shelter says they won't  know whether the animals that were seized will become available for adoption or what their final outcome will be until after a judge hears the case. Until then, Evans says the animals are being kept at the shelter. The court case has been set for 1:30 p.m. on March 22 in Circuit Court.
