It's pretty cool when you have listeners across the country and around the world on your radio station. See how some guys from Finland actually picked up our signal.  With the advent of internet and "listen live" buttons on many websites, anyone can pretty much listen to their favorite radio stations and programs with the click of a button.

However, it's not too often that you have another country actually pick up your AM (Amplitude Modulation) radio station. Recently, AM 650 KGAB received an email from some folks from Finland who said they picked up our signal.

We thought it was pretty cool, so we thought we would share, what they said, with you. Here is what they wrote to our station's management:

"Greetings from Finland! We are Jarmo and Vesa, two AM radio hobbyists from Southern Finland. We are writing to inform that we have succeeded to receive KGAB Radio in Finland!

Every year in winter season we travel up to Lapland, the northernmost province of Finland. This area is ideal for catching fascinating long distance AM radio signals as yours.

Our reception of KGAB took place on 650 kHz AM on December 11, 2013 at 2.59 AM Mountain Standard Time.

We heard your top of the hour aircheck: "KGAB Orchard Valley - Cheyenne. On the air at AM 650, world-wide at KGAB.com"

To prove the reception we attach a short audio clip of your program. We would be happy if you could spare a minute to listen to the clip for verification.

This long distance reception was possible with Microtelecom SDR communications receiver connected to a half mile long wire antenna directed to your area.

Thank you very much for your transmission! We hope you can check the attached recording and if you find that it was your program, please drop us a line as verification.

Wishing you and your staff all the best. We would be also interested to learn more about your station and programs. Waiting to hear from you soon."

Sincerely,

Mr. Jarmo Patala / Mr. Vesa Rinkinen

FINLAND
So there you have it - our signals have hit Finland. Not program breaking news, but kind of a neat account of a couple of guys from Finland who picked up our signal.
Fortunately, you don't have to set up an antenna at the top of Finland. If you want to listen to us, you can simply click the link below.
