Absentee Voting For 2016 Wyoming Primary Starts Soon

Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray is reminding voters that absentee voting for for the 2016 Wyoming Primary election gets underway as soon as Friday, July 1 in some counties and no later than Thursday, July 7 in every one of the state's 23 counties.

The dates vary because each of the state's 23 county clerks set the dates for their counties.

The state's primary election will be held on August 16. But that date is only for statewide and local races.

The state Republican and Democratic parties have already held their president caucuses, with Texas Senator Ted Cruz winning by a landslide on the GOP side and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Democratic voting.

But the primary election will decide which of several candidates will win the Republican nomination for the state's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

A pair of Democrats, Charlie Hardy and Ryan Greene, are vying for their party's nomination for congress.

Incumbent Republican Cynthia Lummis, who was first elected in 2008 is not running for another term.

There are also legislative, city and county government primary elections for both parties across the state. Laramie County and Albany County both start absentee voting on July 1, while early voting in Natrona County gets underway on July 7.

Election Day 2016 is November 8 across the U.S.
